SSO and integration for the Stanbic Super App

The institution

Stanbic IBTC is part of the Standard Bank Group — a Tier-1 Nigerian financial institution operating across banking, insurance, pensions, and asset management. Working there meant working inside regulated SDLC processes alongside security, risk, and compliance teams.

What I built

Enterprise API integration

• Designed and maintained enterprise APIs enabling seamless integration of insurance and financial products into partner platforms, driving distribution and revenue growth for insurance brokers.
• Leveraged C#, MVC5, REST, JWT, SOAP, Web Services, Web Forms, and jQuery — meeting partners wherever they were technologically.

Single Sign-On middleware

• Led the design and implementation of SSO middleware unifying authentication across Insurance, Pensions, and Asset Management entities.
• Collaborated with tech-lead, database, risk-compliance, and security teams.
• Used the Strategy design pattern for Entity Resolver with appropriate separation of concerns and SOLID compliance.
• Leveraged dependency injection and async-await for performance and maintainability.

Privacy and compliance

• Designed and owned privacy and consent APIs using MVC Web-API as part of the entity-wide Data Marketing Consent compliance initiative.
• Drove for encryption of customer-critical data identified by the risk team, using Rijndael (AES) encryption.

Super App and recognition

• Led backend integrations for the Stanbic Super App v1 (wealth business) — became the designated responsible person for the Super App wealth initiative.
• Earned the Beyond Excellence Award Performance Rating in 2020 for proactive contributions to product direction, not just execution.
