The team
Microsoft's Sustainability and Reporting Intelligence team sits behind one of the company's most public commitments: becoming carbon neutral by 2030. The work involves measuring energy regression across nearly every Windows and Surface device in the world, then turning that into something leadership can actually act on.
What I built
Data pipelines at planetary scale
- Developed optimized, complex data pipelines for the Sustainability and Reporting Intelligence team, aligned with Microsoft's 2030 carbon-neutrality goal.
- Built data pipelines for Windows battery / energy saver telemetry and the Win11 energy recommendation feature, tracking adoption and power consumption impact across the install base.
- Translated raw telemetry into actionable reports that directly improved sustainability metrics reported up to leadership.
Leadership dashboards for executives
- Developed partner director / VP-level high-visibility Power BI dashboards processing billions of telemetry records across 1 billion Windows devices and over 200 million Surface devices.
- Implemented data quality checks in collaboration with OEM partners, ensuring billions of records were validated for executive decision-making.
- These dashboards became the source of truth for energy regression measurement across the device portfolio.
Cross-team orchestration migration
- Researched and led the seamless migration from XFLOW to LENS Orchestrator (a new tool, as XFLOW was being deprecated), across all data pipelines for Power, Reliability, and Sustainability teams.
- Authored comprehensive migration guides and supported engineers across multiple business units in transitioning data jobs without disruption.
Reliability and mentorship
- Performed Designated Responsible Individual duties during on-call rotations in the Windows FUN team, responding to critical failures across power, reliability, and sustainability.
- Coached high school interns and direct interns on engineering fundamentals and career development.
